Cagliari Cruise Port took part in the second edition of the global initiative organised by Global Ports Holding (GPH).
Under the slogan “From Port to Port, It’s in Our Hands”, volunteers gathered on Poetto beach to make a tangible contribution to cleaning up the coastline and to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the marine ecosystem.
The day serves as further proof of our commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable future, through concrete actions and an ever-greater focus on safeguarding the environment.

Cagliari Cruise Port is proud to be part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme, helping us provide a more accessible and inclusive experience for all guests. The Sunflower symbol allows people with non-visible disabilities, conditions or chronic illnesses to discreetly indicate that they may need additional time, understanding or support. Cagliari Cruise Port took part in Global Ports Holding’s (GPH) worldwide initiative for International Coastal Cleanup Day. Under the banner “From Every Port, For Every Coast,” participants came together at Poetto beach to contribute to cleaner coasts and emphasize the importance of protecting our marine ecosystem.
Cagliari Cruise Port actively supports the local community by welcoming high school students for School-to-work experiences at its cruise terminal. This initiative offers young people the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the cruise tourism sector, develop professional skills, and understand the dynamics of port operations.
Guided by experienced staff, students participate in daily activities, from passenger assistance to operational support, fostering teamwork, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
This project not only prepares the next generation for future careers but also strengthens the bond between the port and the local community, showing how the cruise industry can contribute to education, training, and sustainable social development.
Cagliari Cruise Port proudly joined the solidarity initiative promoted by the Costa Foundation and Banco Alimentare, involving five Italian ports – Cagliari, Taranto, Savona, Genoa, and Civitavecchia – as well as others abroad.
With the support of the Port Authority, Costa’s Director of Public Affairs Eric Gerritsen, the volunteer association L’Aquilone, Monsignor Carlo Follesa, the Daughters of Charity, Medov, and the Harbour Master’s Office, we came together to provide tangible help to those in need.
A concrete example of sustainable tourism, capable of generating not only economic value but also human and social impact, giving back to the territory part of the wealth it helps to create.
Because doing good feels good – and together, we can build something beautiful for the community.
