Via Sant’Efisio
The celebration of Sant’Efisio in Cagliari starts on May 1st and lasts until May 4th. It is a traditional religious procession honoring the city’s patron saint, involving a pilgrimage from Cagliari to the ancient site of Nora. The event features people dressed in traditional Sardinian costumes, decorated carts, and various cultural and religious rituals, making it one of the most important and heartfelt festivals in Sardinia.

S. Efisio Church
Saint Efisio’s Church (1782) was built in Piedmontese Baroque style. Under the church there is a 9m deep cavity where the saint was imprisoned before being killed. For over 359 years, Saint Efisio has been one of the patron saints of Cagliari: the church contains three statues of the saint and is the starting point of the procession dedicated to him every year on May, 1st. About this procession, besides being among the oldest, it is also the longest Italian one, with about 65 km traveled on foot in 4 days, and the largest in the Mediterranean.

Duomo – Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and Santa Cecilia
Saint Maria’s Cathedral (1255) was built in Medieval style and was remodelled several times in other styles: Pisan-Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Neo-Romanesque. The church contains various underground crypts, the only accessible one is the Martyr’s Sancturary, which is house to 179 niches containing relics of local martyrs. Other precious relics are preserved on the right side of the Cathedral, part of Christ’s crown.

The Covered Walk of the Saint Remy Bastion is again open to the public starting from 31/12/2019, and can be visited, together with the Galleria dello Sperone, from Tuesday to Sunday, with continuous hours from 10 to 18.

Parco Naturale Regionale Molentargius – Saline – Natural Park
Ever the preferred habitat of pink flamingos, the Molentargius park (in Sardinian, “molenti” refers to teh donkey used to carry salt extracted from the ponds). A huge ecosystem that hosts different species of mammals, amphibians and lots of aquatic birds. It is worth visiting either on foot or by bicycle.

For cruise ship passengers embarking from the port of Cagliari, Cagliari Cruise Port offers a secure outdoor car park on Molo Rinascita, a few steps from the cruise terminal and the ship’s berth.

The weekly service fee for cruises passengers is €85.00 for cars and €100.00 for larger vehicles (campers, vans, minivans).
